When you are just starting out it may seem that learning the ways of the Force might actually be less difficult than learning about digital marketing. Let’s face it there is a lot to learn if you want to become proficient in the topics of SEO, social media, web analytics, email marketing, blogging, etc.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a present day Yoda that could teach us everything we needed to know? Unfortunately you won’t find one all knowing creature that can guide you on your quest for digital marketing knowledge.
There are Others
All is not lost, however, for there are numerous digital marketing Jedi Knights scattered all across the online universe. And they are constantly creating amazing content that helps make the learning process much less daunting. And the best part is that these Jedi Knights want to help beginners like you and me. They know the value of sharing their knowledge and they make it readily available.
There is one catch, though. These Jedis won’t come find you. You have to seek them out. Now you won’t have to fly to some remote planet like Luke had to do to find Yoda, but you will have to go off on your own and do some exploring. It is not really that difficult, but it will take some time and persistence.
You first need to identify who you actually want to find. I started off by searching for the instructors of the courses offered at the Inbound Marketing University. Lucky for me these instructors are some of the best digital marketers to be found. Many of them have created content for some of the top online marketing websites as well as for their own hardcover books.
What to Do
After you have identified a number of digital marketing Jedi Knights, start consuming their content. Follow them on Twitter, read their books, read their blogs and follow their recommended links to find even more influential marketers. You will quickly discover indispensable sources of knowledge that will help you on your journey to learn the ways of the Force…er…digital marketing.
As Yoda might say, “Many paths to learning there are.” And he’d be correct. I only mentioned the way I began to look for digital marketing Jedi Knights. What methods have you used to seek them out?
